Ducks are the champs... for 16 reasons!
as reported by KSN Reporter Ethan Kwassman
NHL.Com Senior writer Shawn P. Roarke always has a very grasping column in Crashing the Net, and this week he tells us 16 reasons why the Anaheim Ducks won the Stanley Cup. Some reasons are very obvious like those of the leadership of Scott Niedermeyer, and surprise performance of Travis Moen throughout the entire playoffs. Others, such as the Ducks advantages of home-ice advantage, their depth and domination on faceoffs were givens. I didn't really agree with his reasoning of mental toughness, confidence, and luck as helping the Ducks winning the Cup. After all, you can argue that the Pittsburgh Penguins just had as many or as lack of those three attributes as the Anaheim Ducks did.
However, it's a very lengthy, informative, and well-written article. And I think this might be the reason why he was unable to join Alex Silverman and Andy Facini on Hockey Night on Long Island, this past Saturday, cause this article to a heck of work. Hopefully, this extremely insightful, meticulous, and knowledgeable reporter for the National Hockey League's official site will be able to bring his game to HNLI sometime soon in the future.

It says that article was published on June 14th. Our show was June 16th. So can you explain to me why that would keep him off the show?

Sorry....I totally disagree with this statement:
"I didn't really agree with his reasoning of mental toughness, confidence, and luck as helping the Ducks winning the Cup. After all, you can argue that the Pittsburgh Penguins just had as many or as lack of those three attributes as the Anaheim Ducks did."
The Penguins had as much mental toughness as Anaheim?! A vast majority of the Pens roster had never even made a Stanley Cup Playoff appearance. Meanwhile, the Ducks are chocked with seasoned veterans like Teemu Selanne, Andy McDonald, and Scott Neidermeyer. The same goes for confidence. While Sidney Crosby won the scoring title this year and the MVP, I highly doubt he was overcome with confidence going into his first ever playoff appearance. This clearly showed when Ottawa breezed passed Pittsburgh in five games. Also, since they lost in 5, how do you figure that they had luck?! Bad luck, but I wouldn't say they were lucky.
Sorry to bash you like this Kwass, but to say that the Penguins had these same elements that lead to the Ducks' cup victory is just flat out wrong.

Alex, Okay, point well taken... although my point really was that outside of Anaheim, the Pens showed the most mental toughness against Ottawa in the playoffs than the Devils or Buffalo. Would you agree with that? Thanx for commenting, and also Shawn P. Roarke writes other columns besides crashing the net, so idk, hopefully you'll get him on in the future.
