Will Mariano Rivera be back?

The Kwass asked me earlier today if I think Mo will be back. My answer is definitely yes ESPECIALLY if cashman is still the GM of this team. Mariano Rivera has been struggling and has an ERA over 5. However it is not his fault. The starting pitching has been inconsistent, the bullpen has been consistently awful and the offense has not produced. Mo is pitching as often or maybe not evenquite as often as a starter and he is coming in and throwing 15-20 pitches. Well that isn't enough work so what do you expect? I rhetorically stated that in my opinion there is still nobody out there who can replace Mo.

The Kwass then mentioned Kyle Farnsworth. Yeah right. Nothing personal towards the Kwass but Kyle Farnsworth like every other pitcher is being overworked and Farnsworth who comes in just for one inning everytime has an ERA over 4. He is the worst set up man ever and there is no way he is qualified for the closing job on the New York Yankees. Farnsworth needs to take a few mph off of his pitches and then MAYBE he will be better. Some may say Mariano is getting old or maybe his selection of 3 pitches (cutter, 2 seam 4 seam) just doesn't cut it anymore. Most pitchers have 5 pitches and at least have 1 or 2 pitches off speed and Mariano doesn't. However his cutter and 2 seam still have plenty of movement but his command is off due to lack of work. There certaintly is nobody right now in the Yankees system who can close. Although if I had to make a suggestion there is one person who I think can fill in as a closer. That person is rookie pitcher Kei Igawa. Despite being sent down many weeks ago and even though he still leads the team with the most Earned Runs given up this season he seems to consistently do well in the first 2 innings or so. I think if he worked hard at it Kei Igawa can close. Realistically however, that will just never happen. So in conclusion Mariano Rivera is going nowhere and he will in fact retire as a member of the New York Yankees. He just needs to get more work

MacRumors.Com Reports: Bill Gates and Steve Jobs LIVE! Conference right now!

as reported by KSN Reporters Ethan Kwassman and Jonny Spikes

I just spoke to Arnold Kim via an AIM Chat. Arnold Kim, aka the great Arn, the creator of the most popular website of the Apple Rumors Community, MacRumors.Com. The site was founded in February 2000 and boasts over 100, 000 users that post tons of Macintosh Rumors on the fantastic, collaborative website. Mr. Kim told me that currently there is a very intriguing discussion LIVE! tonight between Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, and Steve Jobs, the founder and CEO of Apple Inc. For the first time in twenty years, these two "men of our time" share a stage together. Check out the LIVE! show, and eventually the archive here.

Exciting news for us is that we plan to have the great Arnold Kim on our "System Showdown" show on BlogTalkRadio.Com Friday afternoon. He will join Kwass, the PC User, Jonny Spikes, the lucky Macintosh user, and now a new part of our show since Memorial Day; Zixan, the Linux user aka hacker, (you know what I mean). If Mr. Kim is unable to join us, which is very understandable (since he is extremely busy always), than we will have a feature writer from MacRumors.Com with us, as a result. Stay tuned for Friday, y'all!

Benitez saves another for the Mets, as they win in 12!

as reported by KSN Reporter Ethan Kwassman

Carlos Delgado hits second of two homers, his 7th of the year at is mobbed by teammates (inset) on rout to 5-4 Mets win in 12 innings. Mets scored 2 runs with 2 outs and a runner on second in the bottom of the 12th. Duces were wild @ Shea, as well as the combo of C-Del and C-Bel.
I'm too pumped right now to even write about the Mets amazing 5-4 win in 12 innings 2nite (another extra inning game). Delgado's walk-off run was so powerful and so crushed that, it threw the book (for English class) out of my hand when he hit it. I write a more extensive report entitled, "The Benitez Balk Report"! Like my alliteration there, laughing out loud (lol). If you don't know what a balk is, just know it helped produce another "Reyes run", a phrase coined by Mets SNY -TV Great Announcer Gary Cohen.

The Mets are now 16 over (33-17), and sent a postcard via e-mail to Brew Crew in Milwaukee for defeating the Braves tonight and putting the Mets a season-high 5 games up in the division. By the way if you're wondering, I put Yankees finally show signs of "live" instead of "life" intentionally. However, I do sympathize with Yankees fans, and I want Yankees fans to realize there's always a team that's a little bit more exciting (cough * cough * a lot more uh uh), in Flushing, Queens yo! Rite Jon? Aight, also guys, YOU HAVE TO check out this article from ArmChairGM.Com by a San Francisco Giants, and about his team's closer saving already the second game this month for his former team. Mets fans know what I mean. Woah! What a show we'll have tomorrow on BlogTalkRadio.Com.

Some signs of live despite another Yankees loss to Jays!

as reported by KSN Reporter Ethan Kwassman

Image:Jaysbeatyanks.jpg Despite the New York Yankees losing 3-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays tonight and falling a season high and a 1978-esque 14.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox in the AL East, there were some signs of the Yankees beginning to turn it around this year:

1. Jason Giambi homered in the seventh off reliever Kevin Downs to tie the game at 1. His 7th homer of the year, and finally coming through in the clutch for those Bronx Bombers for the first time in eons.

2. Andy Pettitte was brilliant again: (7.1 INP, 6 H, 3 R (1 earned), and 3 K). However he fell to (3-4), despite his magnificent 2.51 ERA.

3. The Yankees actually made less errors than their opposition. The Yanks made 2, and the Jays made 3! This time it wasn't Robinson Cano, it was his fellow infielders, SS Derek Jeter aka Captain Colon and 3B Alex Rodriguez aka E-Rod (as Steve Somers say). (Remember this is a Mets fan dishing out these very compassionate nicknames!)

4. Yankee reliever Scott Proctor actually pitched 2/3 of an inning and didn't allow a base-runner, allow the Blue Jays already regained the lead 3-2 when he game into the game in the bottom of the eighth inning!

5. Joe Torre actually stayed in the dugout all game, as opposed to on the diamond meaning that there weren't many calls to argue.

However, the bottom line is that the Yankees lost their 5th straight, and the Red Sox keep on rollin' with a 4-2 win over the AL Central leading Cleveland Indians. But, there is some signs of life looming out of the Bronx Bombers.

Shawn Green lands on DL with broken foot

as reported by KSN Reporter Ethan Kwassman

At the moment, the Mets are tied with the San Francisco Giants at 3 in the 11th inning. Let's see if they can pull this one through. The Mets have placed RF Shawn Green on the 15-day disabled list with a broken foot. He broke his foot after fouling off the baseball off his foot in a game last Friday in Florida. As a result, the 'Amazins have recalled OF Ben Johnson from Triple-A to take Green's spot on the roster.

However, Green is not expected to be out for long as he will return to the varsity (as Steve Somers likes to say) by June 10. By that time, the Mets will be in Motown, playing versus the defending AL Champion Detroit Tigers.
