WOW! That was weird!

So it was a rainy and cool Monday night. I decided to go bowling with a friend of mine. So we went over to the bowling alley that is about 5 minutes away from our houses. It's just a regular bowling alley. Nothing too special. So I walk in and who do I see? I see two people there for a fundraiser. In a bowling alley I wouldn't expect anything major and if it is it would only be major in the bowling world...I would think. One famous bowler is Norm Duke. MAYBE I would expect to see him. But no that's not the case. Two people sitting at their own little desk is Orlando El Duque Hernandez and Ron Darling! That's right. A random bowling alley in a small suburb and two famous pitchers (one who is now a broadcaster) is just sitting there!!! Since it was a fundraiser the autograph would have cost like 80 bucks and I certainly wouldn't want to pay that and I do not carry that much with me to a bowling alley. However this is what I did get. I got a picture on my cell phone of me and Hernandez and also on my phone is 2 videos. One of him BOWLING A SPARE ON THE LANE RIGHT NEXT TO ME! AND THE SECOND VIDEO WAS HIM GETTING A SECOND SPARE ON A LANE RIGHT NEXT TO ME!

Yankees Offense Pounds Glavine... Clippard sent down

What is the difference between this picture and yesterdays top of the 9th inning? Absolutely nothing for Yankee fans. They are equally as scary. Although Mariano Rivera gave up a lot of ground balls, they found holes and he worked himself into trouble. He threw over 30 pitches and gave up 2 runs. However the Yankees still came out on top 11-8 meaning the Yankees have won 10 out of their last 11. The Red Sox won but the Tigers did not putting the Yankees within 3.5 games of the wild card. Tyler Clippard was sent down and Kevin Thompson was called up. However in a week or so we will se the revamped Kei Igawa who has worked on almost every aspect of his pitching and he is deemed Major League Ready. Tonight on ESPN is the rubber game of this 3 game set. Who will get bragging rights? Who is better? We find out tonight.

P.S. KYLE FARNSWORTH IN 27.1 INNINGS THIS YEAR (AND KEEP IN MIND HE IS A SET UP MAN MEANING HE SHOULD BE PRETTY MUCH AS DOMINANT AS A CLOSER) HAS ONLY THREE 1-2-3 INNINGS.

The Cubs Finally Learned

Learned what you may ask? Well we know both on the field, in the dugout, and in the clubhouse the Chicago Cubs have just been a mess lately. Whether it is Piniella yelling at the guys and umpires or Zambrano and Barrett going after each other it is just a complete mess. They are currently 31-36 and 6 games back behind first place. But at least today the Cubs learned to go after the OTHER team. For a while there I think they were just a bit confused. You aren't supposed to fight your own guys. So they improved in that aspect but now it is time for the Cubs to step it up in other areas. But it will be hard with the whole suspension thing.

What Goes Up Must Come Down

The Yankees had won 9 in a row before the struggling Mets came into town. Roger Clemens had yet another credible start allowing 2 runs in 6.1 innings and striking out 8. However the Yankees offense looked like their old selves when the offense failed to produce any runs. Reyes had a career night driving in both runs including a homerun and stealing 3 bases. The good news for the Yankees though, is that the pitching still did a good job. It is ONLY the offense that has to step it up for a change. However, many predicted TONIGHT was the night the Yankees were going to lose and the Yankees would win the other 2. Well that already is not the case. Young Tyler Clippard takes on the New York Mets and although the Mets have been struggling of late, they still have the potential to absolutely DESTROY Tyler Clippard. Tome Glavine will face the extremely hot except yesterday Yankee offense. We will just have to wait and see how it goes. Unfortunately the Red Sox won last night so the Yankees are now 8.5 back in the division. The Yankees are 4.5 games back in the Wild Card. The offense didn't help 45 year old Roger Clemens but they are going to need to have one of their best offensive performances of the year this afternoon when their 22 year old is out there on the BIG stage. But the Yankees success just kept on going up. Now may be the time it goes back down.

Kwass enters Hibernation soon! But not KSN, there will be shows!

as reported by Ethan Kwassman KSN Radio Host

In 10 days, the Kwass will be going into hibernation. I will be returning to Camp Edward Isaacs, after a summer @ Camp Rising Sun in 2006. This will be my 6th out of 7th summer @ Eddie I. However, just because the Kwass will be hibernation doesn't mean that KSN or KSN Radio will be. Listed below are how KSN Radio will round out during the Summertime. I'll be back on August 18th to return back to work as a KSN Host, Sportswriter, and Tech reporter, lol.

The Sports Docket has already done 10 episodes before the summer has began. We have had guests from YanksBlog, DetroitBadBoys, Anaheim Ducks Fan Blog, HoopVibe, ArmChairGM, Hockey Night on Long Island Show, and MVN (Most Valuable Network), We will have 2 more (maybe a third) before the Kwass enters hibernation. However, Steven Ackerman aka Aceman will be carrying you twice a week during the summer with some high-profile guests and some great NY sports shows through the dog days of summer.

System Showdown plans to have one more show before the Kwass and Jon enter hibernation. Well, Jon has already entered hibernation. Where you at?, Jon! However, We've had four shows thus far and all of them have been pretty heated. Kwass, the PC user has been in four, Jon, the Mac user has been in three, and Zeeshan aka Zixan, the Linux user has akso been in three of them. Download those shows to your iPod: they're more comedy than technology! We also had one big-name guest Arnold Kim, the creator of MacRumors.Com, one of the most popular Apple interactive websites. (That reminds me I need to get around to posting that transcript or interview audio!)

L'Chaim has yet to debut, and we're not sure if we will by the time the Kwass goes into hibernation. However, when it gets going it will be a panel of Jews talking everything from Torah tidbits and nuggets to clean Jewish jokes (of course). Joining the Kwass, will be twins Alan Kruchin and George Kruchin, Eugene, the great Jew and ruler of the website, JewPower!, and Daniel Fleischman. However, when this show get's going, it'll be sick.

Eddie I Beat will probably only interest Camp Edward Isaacs campers, staff, and alumni, but we can take your phone calls on everything from good music to Jew talk. Our first show is today @ 3 p.m. with Kwass , D-Korn, Jewbacca, and Midvidy. AKA Ethan Kwassman, Daniel Kornreich, Aaron Zarabi, and Adam Midvidy. We will previewing the 2007 Edward Isaacs summer and may have some good clips during the program. This may be our only show, with one more with Jon maybe, before the CEI Summer. However, during the summer, we may simulcast with the Camp Edward Isaacs loudspeaker, lol. It might happen!
We also have to greatly thank BlogTalkRadio for putting up with the Kwass, and letting him make 4 accounts and not making a big deal about it. And, of course, for their technology in allowing anyone to have their own LIVE! Radio Show right from their crib. Thank you BTR!, changing lives everyday!, lol.

A Show From Cairo.....Yanks win 7 in a row!

Well I havn't posted in a little while because I have been busy. But today I post again and I want to focus on Miguel Cairo. He has been absolutely outstanding defensively for the N.Y. Yankees. He made a diving catch yesterday and lately at first base he has been picking everything. Cairo is just a perfect example of a prime utility infielder.

Abreu is continuing his hot hitting as he hit a 3 run HR to right field yesterday.

Mariano Rivera picked up a save as the Yankees won their 7th STRAIGHT GAME PUTTING THEM AT .500!! But as usual the Red Sox won and the Tigers won with Verlander's no-hitter so the Yankees did not gain any ground but they did not lose any ground either.

Sosa Pitches a gem.... Yanks win 4th straight

Good news for both the Mets and Yankees last night. Yankees win their 5th straight AND Detroit lost to the Mets. Jorge Sosa for the Mets sure put on a show going 8 very strong innings. He struck out 5 gave up 4 hits and sufferen no earned runs. The Mets remain a top the NL East with a 36-23 record. They lead the braves by 4.5 games and get a self esteem booster.

Meanwhile the Yankees are still lookin hot. Like Sosa of the Mets, Pettite went 8 innings with 5 strikeouts but suffered 4 earned runs. Pettite through only 98 pitches. Matsui had a huge game tying homerun to tie the game at 2. The Yankees ended up getting the win in the bottom half of the 10th inning. Today the Yanks play game 2 of the series against the Pirates where the Rocket will Re-Launch at 1pm EST.

2000th win for Joe Torre!

Torre got his 2000th win yesterday as the Yankees won their 3rd straight game. The Yankees did not gain any ground due to the near no-no if Schilling but they did not lose ground. A-Rod continued his beastlyness with a grandslam late in yesterdays game to make the game wide open. Mariano Rivera came into get the last 5 outs and that gave the Yankees their Tic-Tac-Mo. The Yankees are starting to do well with the absence of Jeter's bat. Who would of thought. Damon and Abreu are getting very hot as well. It looks like the Yankees are becoming the Yankees we know. Torre still in my opinion did an awful job thinking Mike Myers can do a better job than Moose and who the heck knows why Torre made the move to take Moose out. But either way, the offense is producing and Clippard, Wang, and Moose all pitched 1 run games and everything is starting to come together for the N.Y. Yankees.

now about those mets.....

Yanks are back.. where did the Mets go?

Well the N.Y. Yankees have won two in a row to the Chicago White Sox. Abreu is back in the 3 hole and he is starting to hit. Chien Ming Wang pitched a complete game 5 hitter and threw 104 pitches. Its about time Torre gives his bullpen a rest. I think this can be a start for the N.Y. Yankees to make a comeback as the Red Sox have now lost 4 straight games. If the Yankees want to make up some ground now is the time to do it.

Now if we move a little East towards Flushing, Queens we greet the N.Y. Mets at Shea Stadium. As a Yankee fan I sure enjoyed that game. I sat underneath the screen about 1o rows behind homeplate AND the Mets lost. But I am not hear to rant. The Mets are on a little bit of a slide themsleves. The two teams predicted by many to be in the World Series this year (Mets and Red Sox) are starting to slip just a little bit. In addition Endy Chavez is now hurt. The Mets got a bonus last night because Met killer Pat Burell was not in the lineup however in a pinch hit appearance he struck out. Nonetheless the Mets still lost after Jimmy Rollins hit a huge 3 run shot on a 3-2 pitch as the fans were all standing and cheering in hopes for a strikeout. The Mets however still hold a 3.5 game lead in the division. The most questionable decision last night by the Mets was to take out Orlando El Duque Hernandez who went 6 solid innings. I guess Randolph's training from Torre is starting to kick in.

Lets Go Streaking!

The Yankees gained a game last night on the Boston Red Sox. Clippard was decent and the offense produced. A-rod hit yet another homerun. It is not time for the Yankees to go on a streak. This is where it has to start while it is still early in the season and their hopes are still alive. Until the Yankees show they can go on a win streak Yankees fans cannot have faith that the Yankees can win games. They are showing no fire, no spark, no care. Unacceptable. Time to step it up N.Y. Yankees. If the Yankees can only do well when Jeter slumps so be it.

Back To School for the N.Y. Yankees

Win
: to gain the victory; overcome an adversary

Momentum: an impelling force or strength

Spark: anything that activates or stimulates; inspiration or catalyst

Maybe the Yankees don't know what a win is. Or maybe they don't know what momentum is. Is it the word Spark that is confusing them? I just don't know. But the fact that the Yankees can not go on some kind of winning streak is very problematic for the N.Y. Yankees. If they want any chance of making it to the playoffs, they need to start winning consecutive games. The Yankees need to carry with them at least one of the three terms above but they really go hand in hand. The Yankees do not have any of those. They do not have wins, momentum, or a spark. I would love to just sit here and blame Torre or the pitching staff and whatever else the problem is, but I have a radio show for that. :) But seriously speaking this offense should be capable of winning games no matter how good their pitching staff is. And speaking of my radio show you can ask my co-host Evan, I predicted Jeter's ground out to Short Stop last night. The thing is though, I knew I'd be right. Thats all he does, ground out to short. Heading into June 5th's game Jeter is 3 for his last 27 but the Yankees have scored 35 runs in that span. This offense needs to start playing like they are capable or they will all be bought out.

Is This The Spark?

The Yankees took 2 out of 3 to the Boston Red Sox this past weekend. A series that the Yankees needed. They need to keep winning. They beat the team with the best record in baseball. Shouldn't they be able to beat everyone else? Last year after the 5 game sweep in Fenway it was all up hill for the Yankees and all ownhill for the Red Sox but at this point in the season it is too early to say either of those assertions. After the White Sox the Yankees have a very favorable interleague schedule. There is no reason why the Yankees should not sweep the Red Sox. The Yankees are of course plagued with tons of injuries some big ones being Giambi and Mentkiewicz. However Phillips will prbably be called up for his defense (as metnioned on Sports HeavenWith Mark and evan at blogtalkradio.com/sportsheavenwithmarkandevan) With Giambi out the DH spot can be swapped around and it will be especially good for damon who has leg problems and Melky is better defensivley anyway. Pettite also complained of Back Spasms but he should be O.K. My point is that these injuries should not plague the N.Y. Yankees. Their lineup still contains some of the most dominant hitters in baseball. It would make no sense for me to list them all because we all know who they are and what they are capable of doing. The pitching is shaky but Moose will pitch fine as long as he gets a normal 5 days rest and he doesn't have to stop pitching due to a rian delay and the one time this year he had his normal 5 day rest without stoppages he was OUTSTANDING and Torre allowed him to throw 95 pitches. So with Pettite, and Moose on their games and if Wang can get the ball down thats enough to start winning series and of course that offense needs to score lots of runs on a consistent basis, and yes, they can do that. But for now lets ee what happens and one has to hope that this series win over the Rival Red Sox with the best record in the league can spark this team, give them some momentum, and maybe make a HUGE playoff run.

Torre Finally Does Something Right!

It took 2 months but Torre finally did something right. He couldn't get wins through pep talks, the use of his bullpen, or through any form of practice so Torre came up with a new idea. Bobby Abreu attempted to steal 3rd and he was thrown out. The slow motion replay showed he was safe but it wasn't anything blatant like some of the other calls against the Yankees this year. But Torre needed to fire this team up. So he immediately ran out of the dugout and started yelling in the umpires face. Good job Torre. And for the first time, that is no sarcastic. He fired the team up, they scored 9 runs in the game, and the Yankees got the victory over the rival first place team the Boston Red Sox who now are ahead of the Yankees by 12.5 games. Torre got fired up before he may potentially be literally fired. Eh. We will see what happens. It is now time for the Yankees to carry the fire from last night into the rest of the series and more importantly into the rest of the season.

How much do you age in 4 months?

The Yankees intrigue me. I just don't understand something. I have heard people say how much some players have aged in the last year. (abreu, damon, etc.) But the thing that stands out in my mind is the word "year." I do not know if we forgot already but the Yankees were in the playoffs last "year." That means that they played in the month of October. Let me repeat that. THAT MEANS THE YANKEES PLAYED IN OCTOBER! Baseball players like to come together and meet up for like this month long practice session. I think it is called Spring Training. Spring Training occurs in the month of February. So in other words the Yankees did not age very fast in one year, they aged very fast in 4 months. You have got to be kidding me. The Yankees finished at an even .500 during spring training. And yes, it is spring training but I expect better out of them. So I don't want to hear that they aged because it is now June and still it hasn't been a year. It has been 8 months and they already played 2 months of the regular season. So is it the bullpen sucking and almost every Yankee hitter slumping at the same time? Unfortunately yes. And somewhat fortunately one of those things can be turned around. That is the hitting. It is time tonight against the Red Sox for the Yankees to break out of the 2 month slump, earn their money and bail their pitchers out.

Will Mariano Rivera be back?

The Kwass asked me earlier today if I think Mo will be back. My answer is definitely yes ESPECIALLY if cashman is still the GM of this team. Mariano Rivera has been struggling and has an ERA over 5. However it is not his fault. The starting pitching has been inconsistent, the bullpen has been consistently awful and the offense has not produced. Mo is pitching as often or maybe not evenquite as often as a starter and he is coming in and throwing 15-20 pitches. Well that isn't enough work so what do you expect? I rhetorically stated that in my opinion there is still nobody out there who can replace Mo.

The Kwass then mentioned Kyle Farnsworth. Yeah right. Nothing personal towards the Kwass but Kyle Farnsworth like every other pitcher is being overworked and Farnsworth who comes in just for one inning everytime has an ERA over 4. He is the worst set up man ever and there is no way he is qualified for the closing job on the New York Yankees. Farnsworth needs to take a few mph off of his pitches and then MAYBE he will be better. Some may say Mariano is getting old or maybe his selection of 3 pitches (cutter, 2 seam 4 seam) just doesn't cut it anymore. Most pitchers have 5 pitches and at least have 1 or 2 pitches off speed and Mariano doesn't. However his cutter and 2 seam still have plenty of movement but his command is off due to lack of work. There certaintly is nobody right now in the Yankees system who can close. Although if I had to make a suggestion there is one person who I think can fill in as a closer. That person is rookie pitcher Kei Igawa. Despite being sent down many weeks ago and even though he still leads the team with the most Earned Runs given up this season he seems to consistently do well in the first 2 innings or so. I think if he worked hard at it Kei Igawa can close. Realistically however, that will just never happen. So in conclusion Mariano Rivera is going nowhere and he will in fact retire as a member of the New York Yankees. He just needs to get more work
